Italian Restaurants In Yaletown Vancouver

Vancouver's Yaletown neighborhood offers a variety of Italian eateries.

Yaletown, a trendy upscale neighborhood in Vancouver, falls between the borders of Georgia Street to the north, Cambie Street to the east, False Creek to the south and Richards Street to the west. Yaletown was once an industrial neighborhood but in the late 1980s the area underwent a transformation. Developers turned the warehouses and factories into retail shops, hotels and restaurants, including Italian restaurants. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Cioppino's Mediterranean Grill & Enoteca

"Vancouver Magazine" named Giuseppe "Pino" Posteraro Chef of the Year in 2008. His two restaurants sit side by side. They offer two large patios, open show kitchens, full-service dining rooms and several private party rooms. The seasonal cuisine emphasizes fresh ingredients. Chefs make the pasta in house, using traditional recipes, and pair them with sauces that are low in fat.

Il Giardino

Il Giardino's management recommends calling ahead to make reservations. The natural and elegant decor provides an oasis from the bustling Yaletown scene. The kitchen uses fresh ingredients to prepare meals. Patrons can choose from an extensive wine list. The restaurant opens for lunch Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m., and dinner, Monday through Saturday from 5:30 p.m.

Umberto's

You'll find Umberto's -- the first restaurant of renowned restaurateur and cookbook author Umberto Menghi -- next door to Il Giardino. The small restaurant caters to private functions such as weddings, business meetings and wine tastings. One of the oldest buildings in Vancouver, which locals call the "Yellow House," houses the restaurant. Patrons can access a serene garden area through the wine room. The restaurant offers valet parking.

La Terrazza

La Terrazza boasts an internationally renowned wine list to accompany its authentic Italian menu. The romantic decor includes a double-sided fireplace, frescoes and hand-painted mosaic floors. The simple and elegant cuisine makes use of the freshest ingredients. La Terrazza includes two private rooms, a garden patio and a lounge and bar that seats 40.

Sciue

Sciue Italian Bakery Caffe offers a taste of Italy in Yaletown. Owners Davide Bonamici, a master baker, and espresso artisan Alessandro Fonseca both hail from Rome. Together, they present simple Roman street food, made fresh throughout the day. Sciue has a Yaletown cafe, near the seawall in the roundhouse plaza, and another downtown. At the Yaletown location, patrons can enjoy the scenery on the European-style outdoor patio or relax in the cafe's modern ambiance.
