Make Vegan Fish

Just because you're a vegan doesn't mean that you have to miss out on your favorite fish dishes. Seitan meats have been used for centuries as a vegetarian replacement for meat. Because it simulates the taste and texture of real fish, this simple Seitan recipe allows you to make your own mock fish and shellfish that you can use in any seafood recipe. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Start by mixing together the gluten powder, nori powder, and 2 cups of the cold water until they form a firm dough.

2. Knead the dough a few times.

3. Begin to shape your dough into the desired form (for fish, shape into thin fillets; for shrimp, shape into small, curved shrimp shapes; for scallops, shape the dough into a thin roll and cut into rounds).

4. Place the remaining 4 cups of water, seaweed, mushrooms, salt, garlic, and lemon juice into a small stock pot .

5. Bring the broth to a slow boil.

6. Drop your seafood pieces into the broth, and let them simmer for 30 minutes.

7. Allow them to refrigerate overnight in the broth to increase the seafood flavor.

8. Your seitan seafood is now ready to use!
