Make Lip Gloss Containers

Fill quirky, unusual pill boxes with an assortment of lip glosses.

While finding the ingredients for your do-it-yourself lip gloss may be as easy as taking a trip to your local grocery, craft or health foods store. Where to find the perfect small containers in which to store that lip gloss, however, may not be as simple. Cut down on your overhead by crafting lip gloss containers from materials you probably already have around your home. Old, already used-up make-up containers with screw-on lids and wide mouths are ideal candidates for do-it-yourself lip gloss containers. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Remove any remnants of lip gloss from your containers by scraping the insides with paper towels and pipe cleaners. If you're using the other container ideas, such as baby food jars, film canisters, pill boxes or other small-lid containers, clean them using the same methods.

2. Combine the soap and water in your basin. Agitate the water to get a soapy, bubbly, well-mixed consistency. Wash your small containers in the soapy water. Allow them to soak to loosen up any remaining gunk and to loosen any labels. Remove them from the soapy water. Empty the basin and refill it with clean water.

3. Use fresh paper towels and pipe cleaners to clean out any remaining gunk or soap residue. Peel off the loosened labels. Rinse your containers in clean water. Dry them with a clean cloth.

4. Lay out paper towels. Set your containers on the paper towels, with the openings facing down so any remaining moisture will drip out. While your containers completely dry, begin work on your lip gloss labels.

5. Write the flavor of your lip gloss and any other information on your paper, making sure to keep the text small enough to fit on your container. Decorate the label according to your preferences. Cut out the label. Make as many copies as containers you'll be filling.

6. Spray the backs of your labels with adhesive once your containers are totally dry. Attach the labels to the fronts or tops of your containers to complete your do-it-yourself lip gloss containers.
