Grocery supervisors earn full-time salaries.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, clerks and cashiers fill approximately fifty percent of supermarket jobs. However, grocery stores employ supervisors and managers in a number of higher-paid positions, including sales supervisor, food preparation supervisor, assistant store manager and store manager. Although cashiers average fewer than 30 hours weekly, most supervisors work at least full time. Factors affecting their average salaries include the type of supervisory position and the job location.

Employees with college training and strong communication and business skills will have good opportunities to advance to supervisor or manager positions.
