Be his ideal housewife.
Whether you are a housewife by choice or by convenience, you want to be a good one. The benchmark for a job well-done depends on what you and your husband have established as your responsibilities. From keeping the house spic-and-span to running the kids to 20 after-school activities, being the ideal housewife means getting all of it done with a smile.
Instructions
1. Understand the rules of your relationship so that you know what you're expected to do. Consider that every successful relationship, even if both partners are working full-time outside of the home, has a sense of order. Have a clear discussion with your husband about what you will be responsible for early on so that you two start on the same page.
2. Add a few extra-special items to your task list to wow your family. If all you're really supposed to be doing is making sure the house is taken care of and the plants are watered, add in surprising chores like getting up early to make breakfast for your husband or stocking the shelves with his favorite snacks so that he never runs out. Keep his tasks in order by setting up reminders for him. If he's in charge of paying the bills, organize all the paperwork by due date and put it on his desk in a folder so he's not searching for information at the last minute.
3. Respect your family and your arrangements. Give your husband the respect he deserves to voice his opinion, be himself and even vent about his day. Don't complain daily about all the work you're doing if you agreed that it's something you can handle. Avoid placing guilt on everyone for your housewife role. Equally as important, try not to drone on about everything you're doing.
4. Commit to the basics of running your household. A survey conducted by a group of Yorkshire sociologists revealed that of 1,500 men and women surveyed on the topic of women as housewives, more than one-third of the men found the basic housewife duties important to have. Those duties include cooking, cleaning, taking care of overall household duties and caring for the children. These are core elements for running a household and would normally be split between full-time working husband-and-wife teams. Know this ahead of time so you understand that to keep him happy, you're expected to do your part.
5. Do something different to spice up your relationship. Keep performing the traditional housewife tasks such as the cooking and the cleaning, but don't be afraid to surprise your spouse by tapping into your inner vixen, as well. Dress up for your husband when he arrives, even if that just means putting on a cute matching sweatsuit. Get all the work done early in the week so you can spend a leisurely afternoon having lunch in the park with him. Give him a complete jolt from your normal intimacy routine by initiating sex at an unusual time, such as in the middle of the day or as soon as he comes home from work. Plan a few activities to keep him happy and guessing what other perks you have coming in the future.
