2. Reduce the calories and the amount of saturated fats in butter or other spreads by adding chia seeds.

3. Prepare nutrient-enriched baby formula and food, milkshakes, hot cereal or eggs for infants and children by mixing chia gel into these foods or drinks. Make the gel by adding chia seeds to water. Wait until it is gelatinous, and then add to the food. It is a good source of Vitamin C, protein, calcium, Omega-3 fatty acids, fiber and antioxidants.

4. Make an energy drink by stirring a few teaspoons of seeds into a glass of water. Wait a few minutes and add lemon or lime to flavor it. This can be beneficial for athletes who are in training.

5. Grind chia seeds and add to meats, salads, batter, muffins, breads or soups to increase the nutritional value of these foods. The benefits of using chia seeds may include improvement in cardiovascular and colonic health. They may also lower blood pressure and resolve digestive problems.
