You can still have pizza as a lacto-ovo vegetarian.
Lacto-ovo vegetarians eat dairy products, eggs, grains and vegetables, but do not eat red meat, poultry or fish. Keeping dairy and eggs in your diet means you will consume good sources of protein, calcium and other nutrients, which can often be lacking in other, stricter vegetarian diets, according to the Mayo Clinic. Be sure to vary your diet and take vitamin supplements to ensure that you get all the nutrients you need. Add this to my Recipe Box.
Instructions
1. Ease into your new diet slowly by removing meat from your meals a few times a week, then adding more as you become accustomed.
2. Substitute meat products with items such as tofu or beans to meet protein and iron needs.
3. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, which will provide many nutrients, according to Mayo Clinic. Take a vitamin supplement to fill in the nutrients, such as iron, that you lack by not eating meat products.
4. Try recipes from other cultures, such as Middle Eastern or Indian, that use no meat but a lot of flavor. Many Asian dishes call for tofu, which is a common meat replacement.
