Make Tasty Brown Rice

Some people say that brown rice does not taste as good as white. Brown rice is very different from white, with a chewy texture and nutty flavor. The switch from white to brown rice can be a bit difficult at first. Keep in mind that brown rice is a healthy addition to your diet, with a much higher fiber content than white rice. Brown rice can be hard to get just exactly right, however. The texture is either too mushy, too chewy, or too stuck together. It also takes longer to cook than white rice. When cooked correctly, brown rice will serve as a healthy complement to any meal. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Rinse rice with cold water in mesh strainer; drain completely.

2. Add rice, 1 cup water and 1 1/4 cup chicken stock in to pot. Cover pot, let cook over medium heat for 20 minutes.

3. Uncover pot, reduce heat to low, and continue to cook for 10 minutes.

4. Test rice, allow it to cook a few more minutes if necessary.
