Bake Cookies On A George Foreman Grill

Try your favorite cookie recipe with your George Foreman grill.

The George Foreman Grill, ubiquitous in college dorms, apartments and any home where a quick meal is a necessity, has grown from its humble hamburger beginnings. The newest Foreman recipes, prepared on the latest grill models, encompass everything from rice and veggie dishes to waffles and--you guessed it--cookies! While the newer grills come with removable baking sheet plates, older George Foreman grill models can be tweaked to accommodate your favorite cookie recipes. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

Cookies on a Grill without the removable baking sheet

1. Line bottom of your grill with aluminum foil.

2. Spoon teaspoon-size dollops of your cookie dough onto the foil, about 1.5 inches apart. The dough can be homemade or store-bought. If the dough is pre-formed in squares or circles, place them on the sheet, spaced about 1.5 inches apart or as indicated on the package directions.

3. Set your heat-safe coffee mug on the counter next to your grill. Ease the top lid of your grill down until it touches the rim of the mug and holds the grill slightly open. The top lid should hover 1-3 inches above your cookies. Using the grill this way will bake your cookies using the same principles as a convection oven.

4. Turn the grill on and cook for the time allotted on the recipe or package.

5. Check one cookie for doneness. If your cookies are ready, remove them from the grill with your heat-safe spatula onto your plate.

6. Insert the baking sheet plate in the bottom of your grill and the steak plate in the top lid of your grill. Lock into place, set the grill to medium and preheat.

7. Spoon out teaspoon-size dollops of your cookie dough, spaced about 1.5 to 2 inches apart, onto the baking sheet. The dough can be homemade or store-bought. If the dough is pre-formed in squares or circles, place them on the sheet, spaced about 1.5 inches apart or as indicated on the package directions.

8. Flatten each cookie dough dollop slightly with your spatula, then gently ease the top lid of your grill down. Cook for 8-10 minutes.

9. Check one cookie for doneness. If the cookies are ready, remove from the grill with your heat-safe spatula onto your plate. If not, check again in 2 minutes, then remove from the grill.
