What Is A Steam Trap

Steam traps are used in many household appliances such as space heaters.

Steam traps are used in a specific type of air ventilation included in all steam systems. With the variety of steam systems available on the market (ranging from household to commercial), there is a need for different kinds of steam traps. Does this Spark an idea?

Duty

Steam traps discharge condensated air and other gases from a piece of machinery while simultaneously not allowing steam to escape from the machine.

Types

Steam traps are either mechanical, thermodynamic or thermostatic. The difference between them is how they differentiate between steam and condensated air to release air but not steam. Mechanical steam traps rely on density, thermodynamics operate based on H2O content and thermostatic traps rely on varying steam temperature.

Uses

Steam traps are used in many common household appliances and larger commercial machinery. For example, they are often used in autoclaves, steaming ovens, space heaters, dry cleaning machines, garment precess and process vats.
