Recipes For Oatmeal Almond Soap

Oatmeal creates a wonderful homemade soap

Oatmeal is a fantastic skin cleanser, making it an attractive soap choice. However, it can be somewhat expensive in the stores, so learning make your own oatmeal soap can be a fun, budget-friendly project.

Gather Your Ingredients

Here is a list of the ingredients needed for this particular soap recipe:

10 oz. palm oil

4 oz. coconut oil

2 oz. olive oil

1/4 cup oatmeal (NOT instant), blended well in blender

2 oz. lye

8 oz. distilled water

1/4 oz. almond essential oil

Prepare the Soap

1 - Pour the lye into the water (not vice versa) and stir until dissolved and set aside to cool (approximately 100 degrees F).

2 - Melt the palm and coconut oils together and set aside to cool (approx. 120 degrees F).

3 - Mix the olive oil and oatmeal in a blender or food processor.

4 - When all your oils are cooled, slowly pour the lye water into the oils (not vice versa), stirring constantly until a small amount of soap leaves a"trace" when drizzled across the surface before dissolving.

5 - Add the oatmeal mixture and stir until well mixed.

Mold and Set

Pour into molds and cover with plastic wrap or wrap with a towel and store, covered, for 48 hours. Remove from the molds and allow to cure or age for two to three weeks before using.
