Raw Dog Food Recipes

Before the introduction of commercial dog food, dogs were fed raw and homemade food. Raw foods have more nutritional value than commercial food. Much of commercial food's nutritional value is lost in cooking, and there are benefits to a raw food diet.

Benefits Of Raw Food

Many dogs with health issues or allergies to certain foods can benefit from raw food diets. Commercial dog foods can cause digestive problems, and raw diets can be a solution. Be careful to only use fresh food and wash it well. Throw uneaten raw food away within four to six days. Be aware if your dog is lactose-intolerant and avoid dairy products. Do not serve citrus or spicy foods. Raisins and grapes can damage the kidney. Peppers, lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, and cucumbers need to be fed sparingly because they can upset the stomach. Consult your veterinarian before beginning a new diet to make certain it is safe for your pet.

Raw Food And Supplements

Many types of raw food can be beneficial for your dog. Some of the choices include meaty raw bones that are half bone and half meat. Chicken necks, wings and back, lamb and pork neck bones and turkey necks are good choices. Pulped fruits and vegetables, garlic and raw eggs can be included. Omega 3 fatty acids can be added as supplements; olive oil and oil of primrose are good sources. Other good supplements are vitamins C and E, kelp powder, alfalfa powder, brewer's yeast, and apple cider vinegar.

Raw Food Recipes

Many creative and nutritional recipes are available.A good raw food recipe should provide nutrients, protein, fiber, carbohydrates, riboflavin, potassium, beta carotene, fat, iron, and vitamins A and C. Here is a good recipe:

All the ingredients should be washed. Peel the carrot and cut up, along with cutting the Brussels sprouts. Cut off the skin off the chicken and then cut into small pieces. Cut the liver. Mix the vegetables and meat together and then add the oil, garlic and bone meal

Another recipe can be made by adding together one sliced carrot, six whole peanuts, and four to six broccoli spears. Or combine ½ an apple, one banana, and add 4 tbsp. of cottage cheese.
