Having a healthy meal at lunch is important to every person. It not only what you need to satisfy your hunger during the middle of the day, but it also gives you the energy needed for an afternoon of work, study and/or play. Similar to other healthy meals, a healthy lunch must include some lean or low-fat protein and a healthy amount of carbohydrates to fuel your body's energy. Vegetables and fruits can be included for added nutrients and nutritional benefits.

The classic healthy meal ideas for lunch include sandwiches, and easy-to-prepare pastas and salads.
Sandwich
Bring in a new twist to your traditional sandwich by using whole-grain or foccacia breads, and pita wraps. Incorporate vegetables, leftover salads and low-fat cheese in your filling.
Salads
Gather all your fresh sliced vegetables such as basil, sprouts, cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce and proteins such as cheese, tuna and lean meat, and toss it all up. Prepare a low-fat dressing with olive oil, vinegar, and salt and pepper. Mix and match your combinations.
Pasta
Pasta is easy to cook. That leaves you to prepare your pesto or sauce in advance to cut preparation time.
Leftovers
Leftovers of healthy casseroles are great lunch ideas. Roasted chicken or smoked tuna make great salad and sandwich fillings for lunches.
