Scuola Italia
The Scuola Italia opera program runs for four weeks, from June to July, in the medieval town of Urbania, situated on the Adriatic coast. The program focuses on young, emerging opera singers, and includes Italian language lessons, vocal studies and performance lessons. Interested students must supply a current resume, photo, completed application, three recent recordings of you singing Italian songs (one an Italian opera aria), and an application fee. You may choose between staying with a host family or at single/shared apartments, and should expect to gain an intimate knowledge of Urbania and its surroundings on multiple excursions during your stay.

International Lyric Academy
Located in Rome and Viterbo, this school nurtures young opera singers in a month-long session that culminates with eight different performances. The school's offerings include full opera production and opera in concert training, as well as programs for ensembles, soloists, concerts, chorus, orchestra, pianists, conductors, high school and technical apprenticeship, and each has a different cost, runs through different dates, and includes different classes. In addition to the lessons, this program offers career strategies and exposure to top European venues, agents and audiences.

Bel Canto Institute
Bel Canto Institute, associated with the State University of New York at New Paltz, runs a summer opera program in Florence, Italy. Prospective students must audition for this program, and if accepted can expect to learn not only music, but also the historical and cultural elements of opera. Participants take Italian lessons, as well as voice and performance lessons, and take part in two concert performances by the end of the four-week program. Students not wishing to pay extra for accommodations can stay with host families.
