Cheap Organic Gifts

Choose certified organic seeds.

Finding the perfect organic gift for the environmentalist on your list does not have to cost a fortune. Gone are the days when organic products could only be found at the local health food store. With the green movement on the rise, many large retail stores and grocery markets offer consumers organic alternatives. Shopping for organic ingredients or supplies to create your own gift is not only easy, but a lot of fun.

Gift Baskets

Put together a green-themed gift basket. Purchase a planting pot and fill it with packets of seeds, potting soil and some garden tools. Choosing organic seeds ensures that the seeds were not genetically altered or treated with pesticides. Personalize the gift by painting artwork on the planting pot. Home-baked organic goods or fresh produce can be arranged in baskets for gift-giving. Nontoxic cleaning products packaged in biodegradable packaging along with some energy-saving light bulbs can be arranged in a brown paper bag personalized with artwork. A small basket containing organic honey and beeswax candles makes a wonderful gift.

Reusable Shopping Bags

Many people prefer to use cloth bags rather than plastic. Larger chain stores now sell reusable shopping bags, many offering discounts to customers who shop with the bags. Find reusable bags in the gift sections of stores that offer them. Present the bags in an organic tote personalized with artwork, or fill the bags with fresh produce.

Handmade Floral Gifts

Create a handmade wreath with evergreen boughs, pine cones and dried berries. Purchase a small amount of organic cotton and ribbon at the fabric store and create sachets. Fill the sachets with dried lavender for a sweet smelling gift. A recycled wine bottle with the label removed makes an excellent vase. Place dried flowers or herbs in a handmade vase to present as a gift. Dried herb bundles tied together with hemp yarn and paired with a few organic spices can be presented to the eco-friendly recipient who enjoys cooking.

Presentation

Green-themed gifts need environmentally friendly packaging. Many companies sell recycled wrapping paper. Gifts also can be wrapped in recycled newspaper or brown paper grocery bags. Grocery bags can be personalized with artwork and decorated with dried leaves for a festive touch. Organic hemp yarn can be purchased at most fabric stores and used to create bows for packages.
